Ohio Early Voting Rules Set
Ohio’s early voting has been a hot topic since federal Judge Peter Economus ordered the state to extend its early voting days
After much deliberation the time frame for early voting has been finalized. The directive came down from the Secretary of State’s office on September 12. You can cast your vote as early as September 30. We spoke with the director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections, Chris Hamill, about the early voting period.
"The period was lengthened," Hamill said. "It was October the 7th and now it begins September the 30th, so we have extended days."
Not only can you vote as early as the end of this month, but you can take care of registering or changing your address as well.
If you are not registered to vote in Muskingum County you can stop by the board of elections office on 7th Street and change your address then immediately cast your vote.
"Between September the 30th and October the 6th you may come in, change your address and vote all at the same time."
Hamill added that you must have your address changed or register to vote by October 6 to vote in the November general election.
