Hope for Homeless Chocolate Walk
The Hope for Homeless Chocolate Walk featured a couple of things Saturday.
The first, people helping people. And of course the second was chocolate. Many different chocolate creations lined the streets of downtown Saturday, but that wasn’t the main focus on the walk.
The spotlight was on helping Christ’s Table raise money to provide meals to those who need it them most. Terri Clapper founded hope for homeless and she said the walk is all about helping people.
"I think the idea is just the promotion of giving and the generous community that we live in," Clapper said. "We really do have a nice community that supports these kind of events, and I think that’s what makes it work so well."
Twenty businesses participated in the event today, and the Executive Director of Christ’s Table, Keely Warden, was thrilled to have the support.
"It really warms your heart because we are downtown, so when you see your fellow neighbors coming together just to do something good for Christ’s Table, it rewards you because it makes you feel like what you’re doing is important to the people that we serve here in Muskingum County," Warden said.
Christ’s Table provided 113,000 hot meals free of charge last year, and there were 1.2 million meals provided across Muskingum County.
