The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department Flu Shot Clinic

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is preparing for it’s upcoming Flu Clinic.

The event will be held at the Muskingum County Fair Grounds on October 9th from 9AM until 5PM or until supplies run out. Participants are asked to bring a current photo ID and their medical insurance card. If you do not have health insurance, residents of Muskingum County will be covered. Epidemiologist, Kristen Baker says because the flu is preventable, it’s important to get the flu shot each year.

"The flu actually can kill, and there can be a lot of complications….especially in people that are immuno-compromised or in younger populations, children and also in older populations and so we highly recommend that you get the vaccine because you can prevent this and prevent getting illness."

2,200 doses will be available. County Public Health Emergency preparedness coordinator, Leann Cline says mass vaccination events help them to prepare for community emergencies.

"This kind of exercise is testing our capabilities to communicate with our partners, to get information out to the public. It’s an effective way to test the capabilities. We are utilizing this as emergency preparedness and we can get the community prepared in the sense that they know what to do if an incident actually occurs."
