Carr Center’s 38th Annual Cake Auction Draws Crowds

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Carr Center’s 38th Annual Cake Auction got underway Wednesday at the Colony Square Mall.

People were out in droves while getting their final looks at the cakes set to be auctioned off. However, a big event like this wouldn’t be possible without a few helping hands.

Lisa Meadows, a Cake Auction Volunteer, says she’s volunteered for the Cake Auction for about 3 years. She says just knowing she’s helping to support a good cause is her reason to keep coming back year after year.

“I think this just means so much to the community,” Meadows said. “The money that goes into the Carr Center really, directly goes back to the community with the programs that they have within the Center.”

Madelyn Cherrington, another Cake Auction Volunteer, says she’s been volunteering for the Auction since she took an internship with the Center two years ago. She said she’s volunteered for programs like Safety Town and others since she was a freshman in high school.

Cherrington said she’s seen first hand how this Auction benefits the programs and people at the Carr Center.

“This auction means so much, it means the world to us,” Cherrington said. “It’s so important for all of our programs, it benefits them all and honestly I don’t think we could do it without it.”

The Carr Center Cake Auction continues tomorrow starting at 9 AM and goes until 5PM.
