Susan Rich

Susan K (Lanning) Rich, 74, of Crooksville, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, at The Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville, surrounded by her 3 loving children and niece Ruby Moore. Born on August 17, 1949, in Morgan County, to the late Edward and Ruby (Eppley) Lanning. Susan’s life was a testament to the power of positivity and the enduring bond of family. Susan graduated from Roseville High School in 1967, where she began to shape a life marked by dedication and service. She spent 17 years at the Zanesville Times Recorder, where she excelled in advertising, followed by a significant tenure spanning over two decades at Coconis Furniture. Her professional accomplishments, however, were always secondary to the joy she found in her family and faith. A devoted mother, Susan’s legacy is carried on by her loving children: Charles “Charlene” Morehead, Teresa (Darin) Anders, and Lisa (John) Ellis. Her role as a grandmother was one, she cherished deeply, showering love upon her grandchildren, Ryan (Kassi) Anders, Macey (Brian) Fowler, Emalie (Shantel) DePuy, Holly (Ryan) Black, Gordon Morehead, and Maya Ellis. Her spirit will continue to guide her great-grandchildren, Brayden Anders, Kale Riggs, Kai Anders, Dominck Fowler, Malakai DePuy, and Wyatt Black, as they grow and navigate the world. Susan’s siblings, Jim Lanning, Dave Lanning, Steve Lanning, Gary Lanning, and Tony Lanning, along with her sisters, Sally Foglesong and Janet Hodge, will remember her as a source of unwavering support and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Rich, her brother Larry Lanning, parents, Edward and Ruby (Eppley) Lanning, and her guardian angel, Wesley P. Mills, who welcomed her to Heaven. Susan’s heart extended beyond her family to her community, where she was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Roseville. Her interests were simple yet profound. Susan found pleasure in the laughter of her grandchildren, the comfort of her porch, and the company of her family. She was a provider in every sense of the word, ensuring that those she loved were cared for and cherished. Her ability to find happiness in the everyday moments was a lesson she imparted to all who knew her. Calling hours will be held Friday June 7, 2024, from 5pm -8pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will be held Saturday June 8, 2024, at 11am, with calling hours held beginning at 10am, with Pastor Steve Harrop and Don Harris officiating. Buril will follow in Dutch Hill Cemetery, next to her husband and among other family members. Susan’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks and deep gratitude to nurses Sherri Maxwell and Brenda Spangler at The Oaks at Northpointe, along with Christy Ater and Kimmy with Shriver’s Hospice for their years of dedicated care given to Susan with compassion and grace.
