Pelotonia Fundraiser to Take Place at the Downtown Exchange
ZANESVILLE, OH – Pelotonia is an organization dedicated to raising money for cancer research through its annual bike riding event and a local participant has put together an event to help their cause.
According to their website, Pelotonia has raised $283 million to date for The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, and the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology. Todd Riley has been riding for Pelotonia to help raise money for several years, motivated by his own personal experiences with cancer and cancer in the family.
“I’ve been riding since 2018 it was the 10th anniversary of Pelotonia and the 30th anniversary of my dad passing away from cancer. When Dad passed away it was basically an incurable form of cancer. The James at Ohio State and Pelotonia have increases live expectancy and survivability of that particular form of cancer. So I though it was kind of synergy to get involved for their tenth anniversary and the 30th anniversary of Dads death,” Riley said.
With the help of the Downtown Exchange in Zanesville, Riley has organized a fundraising event this Friday with 100% of the proceeds going to Pelotonia in August when he goes to ride.
“It’s an amazing weekend to see all those riders and volunteers and that money go to fund cancer research. It’s awesome and it’ll be fun here, Friday night. Again we’re going to have live music. Carson Clouse who’s from Cambridge, great, young, upcoming musician is going to be playing for us and we’ll do some 50/50’s raffles and have some fun,” Riley said.
His fundraising goal is $1,250 to ride the 20 mile stretch and appreciates the support from the Down Town Exchange. Those who would like to support Riley or Pelotonia can visit Pelotonia’s website or visit the Downtown Exchange this Friday.
