Renner Theater Preparing For Angel Tree Production
The Renner Theater was making final preparations for their Angel Tree Benefit Wednesday.
This is the 24th time the production has been put on for the community. We had the chance to talk to the writer and director of the benefit, Richard Tolliver, who told us how the the production comes to be.
"Well every year we do a Christmas show here and we write a story line and produce and we have music and we audition and anybody that wants to be in the show can be and then I kind of write the story around them and we put on a show."
All it costs to attend the show is a donation. The money raised goes toward the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree. The cast does not have a goal in mind as far as fundraising goes, but in years past, they have raised up to $5,000 in a weekend. Tolliver explained the significance of the performance.
"Our whole premise originally was to give something back to the community because that’s what supports us and that’s what lets us be here and it’s our way of taking a season we love and the music we love and putting something together and being able to give back and help people that might be a little less fortunate circumstances have a better holiday."
The show runs tomorrow through Saturday at 8PM and at 2:30PM on Sunday. If you would like to learn more about the show, you can visit the theater’s website: www.zanetraceplayers.org
You are encouraged to make a seat reservation ahead of time.
