Maysville Students Help Out The Salvation Army

Students from Maysville High School’s service learning class took a break from school Friday morning to help out the Salvation Army.

The students put together more than 1800 boxes Friday to be used over the holiday season for Christmas distributions.

"What we’re doing today is we brought down our service learning students to come out to help the salvation army," stated Katie Sidwell, a Maysville High School teacher. "Get them a day out of school to really show them what service learning is all about."

After the students finished building boxes they packed 200 with food for the December 16th food only distribution. The other boxes will be filled with food and toys soon and will be distributed on December 18th during the Salvation Army’s Christmas distribution.

"It’s really important because it’s just nice to give back to the people who have helped build the community and who have lived where you lived as well and to just know that you’ve helped other people," said Maysville Senior Alec Shook.

If you want to make a difference in your community like these students. The Salvation Army is looking for help to pack the remainder of their Christmas boxes. You’re encouraged to stop by the Salvation Army on Tuesday, December 17th at 5 p.m. to lend a helping hand.
