Local Catholic Schools Raising Funds In Annual Campaign

The local Catholic Schools of Zanesville are seeking out your help.

The annual Catholic Schools Campaign is going on in order to raise money for the local private educational facilities. While public schools raise their money through levies and bonds, these schools have to look for different means to keep the doors open. We stopped by Bishop Rosecrans High School and spoke to Rusty Montgomery, Director of Advancement of the Catholic Schools of Zanesville who told us what the funds will go toward.

"Specifically the money will be going to three areas. Capital improvements, state of our technology, handicapped accessibility. Things like that. A couple hundred thousand is going to be for maintenance because there’s always something to be fixed up in the schools and then about a half a million will go toward tuition assistance and that’s where its very important that we help bring our students in there and give them some assistance as far as financial."

The Catholic Schools hope to raise $1.3 million. They currently have about $400,000 raised. Montgomery told us the value of funding children’s Catholic Education.

"We feel that Bishop Rosecrans and Bishop Fenwick are bringing a lot of great people across this country. If you ask anyone that graduated from our schools going to the colleges and universities in this country, they will tell you they are well well prepared. Our test scores are always above state, always above the national level so we’ve very proud of that and we need to toot our horn a little bit more because we don’t do enough of it."

If you would like to help make a contribution to the Catholic Schools Campaign, you can do so by calling Bishop Rosecrans High School and ask for Rusty Montgomery or Nicolle Sutton.
