Prioritizing Women’s Health

ZANESVILLE, OH – It’s common for women to feel anxious about visiting the doctor, or to let busy schedules push health appointments down the to-do list.

Experts say remembering your health is a priority. They encourage women to schedule their yearly wellness exams. These exams include important screenings and discussions about overall wellness and are crucial for maintaining good health and catching potential issues early.

“We start pap smears, a cervical cancer screening at age 21, which is a great screening test that we do pretty much up until age 65. It’s really important to stay on top of that. As people get older, continuing to talk to them and educate them about what’s normal, abnormal, or what to look for in terms of pre cancer. Being able to teach how to empower themselves too with changes in their body.” M.D., Genesis OB/GYN Group, Dr. Emily Flagler said.

Doctor Flager says it’s normal for women to feel nervous about visiting the doctor, but taking the take for these check-ups is a vital part of self-care.

“It’s really important to find someone who makes you feel comfortable and empowered to ask questions and learn about yourself and your body and the changes that a womans body goes through over time and how to protect yourself and keep yourself safe.” Dr. Flagler said.

Remember to take a moment to prioritize your health and schedule your check-up.
