The Senior Student Art Exhibition at Muskingum University starts Monday

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – As the semester enters its home stretch at Muskingum University, students fill the Louis O. Palmer Gallery for the Senior Student Art Exhibition.
The opening reception for the exhibition is Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. The art on display covers a wide variety of visual mediums from seven Muskingum University seniors. Four students are art majors, one is a digital design major, and the two are from other departments who took several art courses during their time on campus.
“…and hopefully what you can see is that they really are trying to strive for professionalism in their work and trying to reach that kind of higher level of taking it from simply being maybe a hobby or something that they’ve done in the past to something that they actually as a career,” said John Drubel, assistant professor of art at Muskingum University
You can visit the Palmer Gallery on Wednesday to see student presentations at 1 p.m. John Drubel is the assistant professor of art for Muskingum University and explains what you can expect from his students during the presentation.
“For their senior presentations, they’re going to be telling a little bit about their work, about their journey as artists, what they’ve learned as part of the Muskingum University Art and Design program. And kind of their process and sharing like how they actually go about making their works,” Drubel said.
The Senior Student Art Exhibition will be open on weekdays from 3 to 5 p.m. until Dec. 3. The Palmer Gallery is open to the general public and admission is free. There are also art pieces available to purchase through a silent auction. They were created through a collaborative project through the music department which you can read about here.
