MCLS Launches “What to Read Next” Quiz

ZANESVILLE, OH – July 1st marks the halfway point of the Muskingum County Library System’s Summer Reading Program.

If you’re stumped on what to read next or need some new recommendations, the Library System has you covered with their “What to Read Next Quiz”.

Sarah Brinkman, an Outreach Assistant at the John McIntire Library, says they got the idea for this quiz from a survey they conducted.

“‘The What to Read Next Quiz’ was kind of born from a community survey we did, last year I believe,” Brinkman said. “We realized that a lot of people come into the library looking for something to read, they’re really interested in books and they know we kind of know a lot about books. We wanted to make it easier for people to be able to, say, this is what I like and connect with a librarian to find exactly the perfect book for them.”

Haley Shaw, the Youth Services Librarian, says this quiz is very simple. She says you can be as vague or in depth as you want in your responses.

Shaw also says the best part of this quiz is that once you submit your answers, they go directly to a librarian so they can hand choose a book for you.

“Your answers are going to be completely evaluated by real people,” Shaw said. “It’s not like AI or anything like that, it’s actual librarians looking at your answers and figuring out the best books for you.”
