Movement on Main Hosts Fun-Filled Musical Theatre Camp
ZANESVILLE, OH – Movement on Main Center for Dance is bringing a touch of nostalgia to the Zanesville Community Theater with their exciting Musical Theatre Camp, currently underway for kids aged 5 to 14.
This year’s theme, “Press Start,” is all about the magic of the beloved video games from the 80s and 90s. Throughout the week, campers are immersed in singing, dancing, and acting activities, all inspired by the classic gaming adventures.
“We learn a whole show in five days. They come in on Monday and they learn how to audition, they learn music, choreography, and they learn skills as far as set painting, sounds, and lights. They get a really comprehensive picture of what it takes to put on a whole production, and we do it all in five days,” Summer Camp Director, Sarah Gantzer said.
At the end of the week, the camp will wrap up with a special performance at the Zanesville Community Theater, where the young performers will showcase their newfound skills
“I think theatre is so beneficial to kids. It helps with literacy skills; it helps with their confidence and their self-assurance. Not every kid is meant to be part of a sports team, so theatre helps them have that sense of belonging. It’s inclusive, everybody gets to be part of a team when we put a show together,” Gantzer said.
Movement on Main is planning on hosting the Musical Theatre Camp again next year. For more information, you can check out their Facebook page.
