Linda Jones

Linda L. Jones, 84, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1939, in Morgan County to the late Luster and Virginia Gardner Smith. Linda loved her Jesus, her husband, each of her three children, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She possessed the gift of hospitality to a level that was almost unfathomable. Together, her and Bill, hosted more people than we can begin to number. Linda loved to cook, and her cooking was legendary in her church and the school system, in which she served in multiple capacities. She was a charter member of Zanesville Bible Methodist Church and employed in the Zanesville City School district, as a school secretary. She was known as “Grandma Linda” to hundreds of children and was a master cookie baker.

Her husband Bill J. Jones; her children: Kevin M. (Linda) Jones, Darla (Brian) Morris and Susan (Joe) Rowland; brother Brent (Reba) Smith; sister Kathy Smith; grandchildren: Sara (Mike) Barr and children Zashawn, Teyten and Kamryn of Elgin, SC, Tim (Kara) Jones and children Ella, Levi, Luca and Annalise of Summersville, SC, Kristi (Rico) Cabrera and child Mya of Simpsonsville, SC, Steven (Chelsea) Jones and children Jade and Hazel of Clarksville, TN, Daniel Morris of Lima, Aaron (Jackie) Morris and children Lucy and Sophie of Wooster.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Dixie Smith.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8PM Friday, July 26, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. The funeral will begin at 1PM, Saturday, July 27 in the Snouffer Chapel with Rev. William Blair and Pastor Titus Byer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sonora, Ohio.
