Muskingum County Junior Fair Board Hosts First-Ever Apple Pie Auction

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Junior Fair Board is adding a sweet new event to this year’s fair lineup!
On Tuesday, August 13th at 1 PM, the Junior Fair Board will host its first-ever Apple Pie Auction at the Horse Show Arena on the fairgrounds. Bakers of all levels are invited to whip up their best apple pie with fresh apples and submit it for auction. Whether you’re a seasoned pie maker or just love a good baking challenge, this is your chance to showcase your skills.
“We decided to bring it to the Muskingum County fair to have something new for everyone to be involved in. You might not have an animal here, but if you brought an apple pie, it’s something easier that everyone can be involved in. We thought Muskingum County needs some new traditions.” Co-Chair of Muskingum County Junior Fair Board Involvement Committee, Avarie Tedrick said.
There are categories for everyone, students ages 5 to 18, adults, and senior citizens 65 and older. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Junior Fair Board, helping fund future activities and events.
“You make an apple pie, with your recipe, and it’s going to taste amazing because it’s apple pie. You’ll bring it in on Monday over to where all the fruits, vegetables, and quilts are. Then on Tuesday, we’ll bring it here to the Horse Arena and auction it off. We’re going to raise all kinds of money and it’s going to be amazing.” Co-Chair of Involvement Committee, Haley Ogilbee said.
All pie submissions and must include a recipe and be baked in a disposable aluminum foil pan, with a pan size between 8 and10 inches. Pies should be dropped off at the Art Hall on the fairgrounds. For more information, contact Hannah Dobbins at cowgirl0cry@gmail.com
