ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum Valley Health Centers have been serving area residents with high quality, affordable, healthcare since 2008.

MVHC CEO Dan Atkinson shared how the nonprofit has established its presence and is currently expanding to better serve the communities they’re in.

“So we’ve had three projects in 2024 and we’re on the… we’re getting ready to wrap these three projects up,” Atkinson said. “It’s about a $2.5 Million dollar commitment to the community. The first one is a million dollar renovation at our Adair Campus location. This is going to expand behavioral health services as well as pediatrics and then also women’s health. This project was supported through a HRSA Grant and allowed us to take some space and convert it to additional clinical space.”

MVHC has also invested $1.5 Million Dollars into their Putnam Avenue facility, which will expand that site to allow for the operation of a new primary care practice. The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“And then the third project has been really centered around schools,” Atkinson said. “We’ve been a partner with the Maysville Local School District as well as the Zanesville City Schools. So, just last week, we had the ribbon cutting to add a new location at the Maysville 6th-to 12 facility. That will be there to serve the students and the staff of Maysville. And then later this year, we’ll be opening up a site in the Zane Trace Elementary School, for Zanesville City Schools. And that will also be completed by the end of this year.”

MVHC relies on many grant dollars from philanthropists such as the Health Resources & Services Administration, the Ohio Appalachian Community Grant Program and the Rogge and Straker Foundations.
