American Pride hosts patriotic excavator, fundraiser
Shelly and Sands unloaded its patriotic excavator at American pride Monday.
It’s all part of a fundraiser for the Wounded Warriors Project. Which helps provide support to wounded veterans and their families. The idea for this fundraiser came after Zanesville native Mary Ann Bucci’s 2001 painting of a “Soldier Snowman” is being put on display in Oklahoma to raise money for the same purpose.
That’s where Ron Bucci got the idea to create this week long fundraiser right here in Zanesville. Both Shelly and Sands and American Pride jumped at the opportunity to help.
“It is a good cause for the community, not just the community, but for the whole country,” Equipment Superintendent at Shelly and Sands, Steve Schlosser, said. “Wounded warriors is a real special project and i think it helps support some of the men and women who sacrifice so much for all of us.”
The excavator will be at American Pride until Monday and people can drop off donations all week. Ryan Dodson owns American Pride and is happy to be helping raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project.
“I think it’ll be great to have it here and we get some traffic through, Dodson said. “It’s obviously a great looking machine. Hopefully, it will bring some people through, and they can drop off money all week.”
Dodson said that for every riding mower sold this week, American Pride will donate $100 to the Wounded Warriors Project.
