Martha Parsons, 77 of Dresden, Ohio, passed away on September 8, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on June 20, 1947, in Athens, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert Mahaffey and Olive (West) Mahaffey. Martha graduated from Athens High School in 1965 and received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Olivet Nazarene University in 1969. Martha was a teacher at Zanesville and East Knox City Schools for over 20 years. She served as church organist at First Free Methodist Church in Zanesville for many years, as a camp cook for 7 years for the Light & Life Campgrounds in Mansfield, Ohio, and was a member of the Christian Women’s Club, where she served as president for a time. Over the years, Martha taught piano lessons to many children in the Zanesville area. Above all, she loved Jesus and found ways to serve Him in all she did. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and invited them into her home regularly for her famous home-cooked meals.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Michael Parsons; 4 children: David (Carla) Parsons, Daniel (Amy) Parsons, Rebecca (Charles) Schaben, Sara (Jeff) Campbell; sister, Kathleen “Kathie” (Randy) Rucker; brother, Robert “Bob” (Carolyn) Mahaffey; 15 grandchildren: Marc Anthony, Andrew, Regan (Asa), Zachary, Ashley, Nichole, Kylie, Matthew, Kortney, Addison, Allison, Brennan, Oliver, Anya, and Piper; 2 great-grandchildren: Sawyer and Violet; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Meadow View Church of Christ in Frazeysburg, Ohio, on October 5, 2024, at 11 a.m.
