Woman Shot And Killed In Her Cambridge Home Tuesday Night
The Cambridge Police Department says a woman is dead after she was shot in an apparent domestic dispute.
She is identified as 29-year-old Amy Wilson of Cambridge.
Chief Randy LePage says just before 11:30p.m. Tuesday night Wilson called 911 from her home at 536 Madison Avenue. She said that a man was in her home and was going to shoot her. Wilson was able to identify the suspect during the call. A second 911 call was received shortly after from Wilson’s 11-year-old child informing the operator that his mother had been shot.
"I heard loud noises, it sounded like somebody fell and something broke," said neighbor, Joy Thompson. "Then the man was kicking in the door next door and then I hear thumping and crashing, and just all kinds of noise and carrying on. I just knew something terrible had happened."
When the Cambridge Police Department arrived on scene they found Wilson dead and her 2-year-old child missing from the home. The child was located unharmed a short time later. Guernsey and Noble County Sheriff’s Deputies located the suspect, whose name is being held until he is formally charged with the crime, around 7:30a.m. Wednesday morning at his parent’s home in Noble County. He was arrested without incident. The exact motive for the crime is yet to be determined however, there was a history of domestic issues involving the suspect and Wilson. According to Thompson, Wilson has feared the suspect for some time.
"One morning someone saw him at 6:30 in the morning out there and he said he was watching her all night and the next morning and this and that, and he said he was going to kill her," said Thompson.
Search warrants have been acquired for locations in Cambridge and Noble County to locate more evidence. As of this time the investigation in on-going. Charges are expected to be filed by Guernsey County prosecutor Dan Padden Thursday.
