Sharon (Shari) Jane Chesar, age 79, of Byesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday (September 21, 2024) at Altercare Cambridge. Born on February 25, 1945, in Cambridge, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ray Stevens and Phylena (Foit) Stimpert.

A proud 1963 graduate of Buffalo High School, Shari’s career was as diverse as her interests. She worked at NCR, Marlene’s Restaurant, Byesville Pharmacy, and even owned a restaurant and cheese house. Later, she earned her real estate license. Shari was a dedicated 20-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Her love for music, especially country, was well-known, and she cherished those moments of joy and rhythm in her younger years. Shari had a generous spirit, always ready to help her aging neighbors, her children and grandchildren, and even strangers in need.

Shari’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, who were her most treasured blessings. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Shari is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill Potts; her sister, Carolyn Farrar; her nephews, John Farrar and Joshua Potts; and her granddaughter, Megan Stimpert.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Timothy Chesar; her sister, Judy (John) Gates of West Palm Beach, Florida; her sons, Mark (Shelly) Stimpert of Cambridge, Ohio, and Rob (Pam) Chesar of Byesville, Ohio; her daughters, Michelle (Tony) DeLong of Pleasant City, Ohio, and Brigit (Mark) Neuhart of Salesville, Ohio; her grandchildren, Mathew Stimpert, Taylor DeLong, Madyson DeLong, Brady (Jessica) Neuhart, Timothy Chesar, Bryleigh Chesar, and Ashley Carpenter; her great-grandchildren, Steele Rucker, Lucille and Benjamin Neuhart . She also leaves behind her lifelong friend, Sharon Thompson, and her beloved sister-in-law, Virginia Potts, who will miss her dearly.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Altercare Cambridge and Hospice of Guernsey for their wonderful care and to friends and family for their support.

In accordance with Shari’s wishes, private visitation will be held for the family at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.

Graveside services and burial will be held at Buffalo Cemetery on Wednesday (September 25, 2024) at 11 a.m. with Evan. Mark Beros officiating – all are welcome to attend.
