Levency “Bubba” Edward Reese, Sr., 81, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at his home. Levency was born May 14, 1943, in Argyle, Georgia, son of the Willie Mae (Jones) Lawrence and William Albert Reese. In addition to his parents, Levency is also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Mona Lisa Reese; and siblings, Charles Lawrence, Donald Lawrence, Mary Love and Mildred Reese Grant; mothers of his children, Doris (Draughn) Reese and Delisha McNeill.

Levency leaves to mourn his passing, his children, whom he cherished, Voncile (Tito) Reese Perez, Paula Reese, Levency Reese, Jr., Eureka Reese, Aisha Reese and Darren Reese, all born of his marriage with the late Doris (Draughn) Reese, and Daywon Reese, Royal Reese and Ashley Reese, all of his union with the late Delisha McNeill; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sibling, Avis Kemp; lifelong best friend, Larry Ponder; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loved ones and friends.

Levency was a veteran, having served in the United States Army, a member of 101st Airborne. Levency retired from the army with a honorable discharge as well as having been rewarded the Medal of Honor for saving a fellow soldier’s life. Following his service, he went on to enjoy a career as a mechanic. Levency liked to keep busy, and he enjoyed time spent working on cars of all types. In his free time, he liked being outdoors fishing, or in the kitchen cooking delicious meals. Most of all, Levency cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

You may call on the family Monday, September 30, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., at Union Baptist Church, 56 Eighth St., in Zanesville. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
