Local Establishment Bans Movie Stars
A local establishment wants Michael Moore and Seth Rogen to know they’re not welcome.
Terry’s Tavern joins a Michigan steak house who banned the pair after tweets they sent out about the movie “American Sniper.” The movie tells the story of sniper Chris Kyle, who was killed by a friend dealing with post traumatic stress.
Rogen tweeted, “American Sniper kind of reminds me of the movie that’s showing in the third act of Inglorious Bastards.”
Moore tweeted his uncle was killed during World War II by a sniper and were taught snipers were cowards.
“We have a number of veteran’s that come in to Terry’s also the community and we were offended. Chris was an American hero. He stood for what’s right in this country. He stood up for people, he defended the right of free speech and for them to call him a coward that’s really derogatory,” said Tim Arnold co-owner of Terry’s Tavern.
Co-owner Mike Mohr said those offended by the sign can make a choice on whether to patron the tavern.
Mohr said, “If they don’t approve of our view on this they don’t have to come into Terry’s. This is our view. This is what we feel and that’s what we stand by so if they don’t approve of our view they don’t need to come in.
Both Moore and Rogen claim the tweets were taken out of context. Rogen said he wasn’t comparing the movie “American Sniper” Â to Nazi propaganda, but was just saying movie reminded him of another because they both involved snipers.
