Derrick Moorehead Files Petitions With Board Of Elections

The race for Zanesville City Law Director is taking shape. Republican Derrick Moorehead filed his petitions with the Board of Elections Monday.

Moorehead will be running for City Law Director in the may primary election. We had the chance to chat with him and he explained to us his reasons for running.

“I want to help benefit the community that I’ve belonged to my entire life. As we said now, citizens of Zanesville are five times more likely to become the victim of a violent crime when compared to similarly sized communities. When compared to Columbus we’re 30% more likely to become a victim of a thief offense. I want to become Law Director and hold that office to the highest possible standards and to sweep out that status quo.”

Moorehead has a family history of political involvement and believes it’s one of the highest forms of community service. Moorehead says this is his first time running and told us how he feels going forward.

“The current state of things and the goals that I have set for what I want to accomplish are a motivating factor. So apprehension but excited and motivated.”
