Coshocton Leads State in Deer Check-In

For the second year in a row Coshocton County leads the state for deer checked in during deer hunting seasons. This year the county checked in more than 7,500 deer during the state’s 2014-2015 deer hunting seasons.

Across the state officials said hunter checked in more than 175,000 deer. The archery season for deer hunting closed Sunday.

That number is down from the more than 191,000 the previous season. The State contributes that to the effectiveness of deer management efforts. Bag limits were reduced in 46 counties prior to the 2014-2015 deer hunting season. Antlerless permits were eliminated in 29 counties.

Deer population goals will be revised this summer through a random survey of hunters and farmers.
