Potholes In Zanesville Receive Temporary Fix
If you were out and about driving Monday afternoon, you may have noticed street crews hard at work.
The purpose was to repair the potholes that have popped up over the winter months. Public service Director Jay Benett gave us an update on the situation at hand.
"As always it is this time of year as we were talking in a community meeting last week. Spring brings blooming of flowers while this time of year brings blooming of potholes. You know, no worse, no better than its been every other year."
Potholes form when water leaches into the pavement, freezes, and then forces the asphalt out. We still have a couple months of cold weather left, so Bennett told us the fix is only temporary.
"This time of year the companies don’t manufacture hot mix to go in and do more of the permanent so we use whats called a cold mix and that kind of gets us through for several weeks. But then ultimately we’ll cut them out in the spring once the plants open up and start manufacturing hot mix and address it. "
