First ever MVL vs MVL Archery match
Tuesday night, for the first time ever students from competing Muskingum Valley League schools squared off in an MVL archery dual.
The Southeastern Ohio Sportsman Association just south of Crooksville, hosted the competition. Maysville’s Archery Administrator, Jason Bunting, said the competition is long awaited as Maysville has had a team for nine years now.
“Today is the first ever MVL archery match in the history of the MVL archery league,” Bunting said. “We formed a local archery league with other MVL schools. Tonight it’s Maysville vs. Crooksville and it’s pretty significant because this is the first time that we’ve got together for a one on one school match.”
Currently there are five schools in the MVL that have archery programs but Bunting said having the schools compete one on one is a great way to further promote archery across the league.
“It’s grown exponentially over the years, and I think it’s going to continue to grow and hopefully in the near future we will have all schools in the MVL competing in archery,” Bunting said.
The teams consist of 24 scoring shooters on each team. They shoot 15 arrows from 10 meters and another 15 from 15 meters out with a perfect score of 300.
