Orpha O. (Wood) Kasper, 96, of Byesville, passed away Monday (October 21, 2024) at her home.

She was born August 1, 1928 in Columbus, daughter of the late William Wood and Nunnie (Looney) Wood.

Orpha was a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and was a huge sports fan. She cherished the time she spent taking care of her family and grandchildren.

She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Byesville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Kasper Sr., who passed away October 30, 1980. They were married in 1947. Also deceased is a son, Joseph Edward Kasper Jr.; a brother, Oscar “Bud” Wood; a sister, Dorothy Stashonsky; and a son-in-law, Richard Cook.

Orpha is survived by a son, Paul (& Colleen) Kasper of Sarahsville; two daughters, Josephine Cook of Byesville and Maria (& Ron “Honk”) Neff of Byesville; a brother, Dennis Wood of Byesville; three sisters, Osie Veselenak of Cambridge, Myrtle Marlatt of Cumberland, and Louella Potts of Florida; seven grandchildren, Shannon, Kylee, Michele, Ronnie, Jake, Ashley, and Matt; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

No calling hours will be observed. No funeral services will be held at this time. Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, is handling arrangements.
