James “Jim” D. Garvin age 93, of Caldwell, OH passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, OH. He was born October 22, 1931 in Sharon Township in Noble County, OH a son of the late Clem Edward and Guila Eva Boney Garvin.

He was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church in Caldwell. Jim served and protected his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Quinn Coal Company in St. Clairsville, OH. Jim enjoyed traveling with his wife Sue to listen to Bluegrass Music. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Sue Hutchins Garvin whom he married August 15, 1958 and who passed away November 29, 2022; brother Dana John Garvin; brothers-in-law Ronald Duane Parcell, Earnest L. Barnhart, and Virgil Hutchins.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sisters Alice Barnhart and Beulah Parcell both of Caldwell; sister-in-law Bonnie Hutchins of Waterford, OH. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, October 28, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Andrew Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dudley Cemetery near Caldwell, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Sue. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
