Prouty and Cameron Secure Muskingum County Commissioner Seats
ZANESVILLE, OH – Election Day has brought some fresh and familiar faces to the Muskingum County Board of Commissioners.
Republican newcomer Drake Prouty has won the race for Muskingum County Commissioner, defeating Democratic candidate John Furek. Prouty will be stepping into the seat left open by retiring Commissioner, Mollie Crooks. Prouty brings a lot of local experience to the position and has expressed his commitment to focusing on making Muskingum County an even better place to live.
“With over 30 years of public service experience from law enforcement, fire and EMS to township trustee experience to local emergency planning commission. I’m basically a general hard working networking type of individual that really wants to bond everyone together to try to make Muskingum County and the city of Zanesville a better place to work, live, and raise a family.” Prouty said.
In addition to Prouty’s win, Republican incumbent Cindy Cameron secured another four-year term as county commissioner. Cameron successfully defeated Democratic challenger Justin Wyatt, maintaining her position on the board. Cameron looks forward to continuing her work on both future and ongoing projects.
“I’m excited. It has been a great honor to serve Muskingum County and I’m just glad that I was re-elected and that we can continue on some of the large projects that we have. This position is not only about the jail. That’s mainly what we hear about. We have many other projects with infrastructure, water, sewer, and things like that that. We have a lot that we still need to complete. I look forward to working with newly elected Drake Prouty and Melissa Bell, sitting commissioner. I think it will be a great team and that we will get a lot accomplished.” Cameron said.
With Prouty joining the team and Cameron continuing her service, Muskingum County’s Board of Commissioners is set for the upcoming term with both new energy and experienced leadership.
