David “DJ” Sloat II, 42, of Cambridge, passed away November 9th, 2024.
DJ was born May 24th, 1982, in Frankfurt, Germany, son of Diana (Ed) Harris and David Scott Sloat. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 2000 and worked at Detroit Diesel for several years as a supervisor. DJ lived life to the fullest and always believed in others even when they didn’t believe in themselves. He made some of the toughest decisions in life that he knew would affect others but made the personal sacrifice so that they could live better lives. He would always give people 2nd even 3rd chances, knowing that all of us make mistakes, no matter what those mistakes might be. DJ always knew how to make people laugh, even in the most emotional times of their lives. In his final months he was able to accomplish his dreams of pure happiness, marrying his true love and sole mate, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Gray, whom he had shared his life with for over a decade. DJ was and will continue to be an inspiration to others of how hard work, perseverance, dedication, forgiveness, and love can not only change an individual but the people around them.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Sloat; children, Kamryn McIntire, Konner McIntire, Taven Sloat, Iris Sloat; grandchildren, Kruz & Kyre; siblings, Crystal (Bill) Hickman, Jen (Kevin) Whaley, Beckie (Chris) Swingle, Rachael (Ty) Robinson, Emily Sloat, Abbie (Andrew) Reilly, Jacquelyn (Rylan) Brown, Jacob Sloat, Casey Harris; numerous other family and friends.
