Jerry Brent Burns,84, of Crooksville (Rose Farm) passed away on Thursday November 21, 2024 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born in Zanesville on December 26, 1939 to the late Howard “Pie”and Eileen Morrall Burns. Jerry graduated from Crooksville High School in 1958. Jerry was a very hardworking and dedicated employee to many employers, including the former Fred L. Cannon Funeral Home of Crooksville, the former Cannon & Cannon Funeral Homes of Crooksville and Roseville, Western and Southern Life Insurance, Dutro Ford, Frame’s Grocery Store and Hardware- Crooksville, Crooksville Schools for over 30 years, and Snouffer Funeral Home in Zanesville for over 15 years. He was the 2022 Snouffer Funeral Home Employee of the year. Jerry had a tremendous love for his family and the town of Crooksville. You could always find Jerry around the school always pitching in to help, especially sporting events where he ran the game clock for Crooksville home football games for over 30 years. Jerry was a 60 year Member of Peerless Lodge # 591-Crooksville, Sons of American Legion Post 222-Crooksville, VFW Post 9090-Crooksville-Roseville, Maple Avenue Church of Christ-Crooksville, Crooksville Fire Department, and a former member of Eagles Aerie 302-Zanesville. He was a 25 year member of Crooksville Village Council. Jerry will be missed by many dear friends. When Jerry wasn’t working you could find him watching The Pittsburgh Steelers and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Jerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife Carolyn Sue White Burns whom he married November 16, 1985, three children: Becky (Roger) Rowland, Vanessa (John) Paul, and Rocky Garrett, four grandchildren: Dakota Garrett, Brandon (Aly) Paul, Austin Rowland, and Madison Paul, seven great-Grandchildren: Lucas Bowen, Lydia Paul, Scarlet Williams, Oliver Paul, Lennox Paul, Mia Garrett, and Brody Garrett, Brother-in-law Tim (Sharon) White, nephews: Shane (Shannon) White and Shawn (Myley) White, Nieces: Nikki (John) Rake and Heather Schmidt, a cousin Paul Spring, and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents: William ( Pearl )Burns and John (Stella) Morrall, a sister Betty Gross, sister-in-law Jackie Lynn Winland, a cousin Butch Spring, and a grandson Tyler Paul.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Saturday November 23 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Masonic Services will be held at 7:45 PM. Funeral service will be at 1pm on Sunday. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery in McLuney.
