Tradition, Business, and Black Friday Sales

ZANESVILLE, OH – The holiday shopping season is in full swing!
Area shoppers got up bright and early to snag some of the biggest discounts of the year. Here’s a look at how local business owners at the Colony Square Mall Black Friday craft show handled preparation for the busy day.
Adrienne Steele, Owner of Addies Custom Creations says although she’s new to the business, she’s happy with her Black Friday preparation.
“I definitely think that prepping in itself is a lot. I spent a lot of time, like yesterday at thanksgiving. My family was helping me, and it was nice to have my kiddos with me to help prep and they were having so much fun just crafting with auntie and mom.”
Laramie Pierce, Owner of Pierce’s General Store also spent a lot of time preparing for Black Friday.
“It’s always a lot of work, a lot more work than what people think,” Pierce said. We carry a lot of different products, so it’s a lot of trips in here carting them back and forth in the cold weather and in the middle of the night last night.”
Business owners weren’t the only ones preparing for the excitement. Many families came to check out the deals as well.
“We’ve gotten some good deals today so far,” Black Friday shoppers Serena and Chris Heffner exclaimed. “We didn’t start really early so I don’t know that we got all the crazy shopping deals, but obviously there were some things that enticed us to make some purchases.”
The Smith/Morrison family shared their Black Friday tradition that has taken place for over 20 years.
“We dress up and like to hang out! We’ve been doing this forever,” Jenna Smith said. Another family member, Denise Morrison, shared her tips for a good Black Friday. “Just have fun, compare prices. I went to Walmart and got a Walmart.com price on my phone. Saved me 10 bucks!”
While Black Friday deals are great, it’s often the tradition that keeps families participating. Both businesses featured today can be found on social media. Please visit their Facebooks for more information.
