Football Head Coach Erik Ieuter Leaves Muskingum
NEW CONCORD, OH
After six groundbreaking seasons at the helm of the Muskingum University football program, head coach Erik Ieuter has announced that he will be returning to his home state of Michigan.
Taking over the team in 2019, Ieuter compiled a record of 20-30 through the 2024 season. 35 Muskies earned All-conference honors during Ieuter’s tenure, and 44 student athletes named to the Academy All-OAC team as well.
Ieuter says in a statement, “I want to thank President Sue Hasseler, former Athletic Director Steve Brockelbank, and Athletic Director Kari Winters for the incredible opportunity to serve as Musknigum’s football coach.”
He went on to say that it was “a dream come true to be part of this University, surrounded by people who truly bleed red and black.”
“I want to thank Erik for the six strong years that he has been leading our football program” added Winters. “During his tenure, he left his impact on many young men that have joined the Long Magenta Line and have competed for us on the gridiron. We wish him and his family well and look forward to following his career.”
Muskingum offensive line and tight ends coach, run game coordinator, and strength & conditioning coordinator Edward Reny will serve as interim head coach while Muskingum will search for the next coach to lead the program going forward.
