Foxfire Students Donate 300 Cans to Christ’s Table

The Jobs for Ohio Graduates program and Foxfire Schools teach kids the skills they need to succeed once their education is complete, but the programs go past just simply making them good employees. It focus on making them good human beings as well.

Coming up on Wednesday, Jesikah Troutt and Tonni Meadows along with their classmates will be attending the Higher Career Association Conference at the Ohio University of Zanesville. At the event they will present their ‘Students for Service’ project, a canned food drive to benefit Christ’s Table.

Troutt told us how they got the project going, “We drew posters and hung them up telling people that to bring in canned foods to help out with the community.”

“We got just over 300 and they say that 100 cans is for one meal, so we got enough for over 3 meals” said Meadows.

The conference theme this year is “Turning Challenges Into Strengths” and according Keely Warden these few months after the holidays are challenging as its especially slow donation period.

“These 300 cans are three meals, and these girls stepping up for us was fantastic. It’s three meals for hungry bellies this week coming up.”

Troutt and Meadows only wish for the project is that they could have given Christ’s Table even more.

According to Warden the gesture speaks volumes, “Sometimes you look at the world and wonder where we going to be in another 20 years, but when I see girls like this I know we are going to be just fine. We are going to have wonderful volunteers stepping up to do things for the community.”
