A Donation to Goodwill Could Save You Money

Spring is on the horizon and so is Spring cleaning. Elder Beerman and Goodwill Industries have partnered together to give people motivation to donate, rather than throw out, gently used items you no longer want.

From now until March 28th, for each item you donate to Goodwill you can get up to 25 percent off items at Elder Beerman. At the Colony Square Mall, Elder Beerman has donation bins throughout the store. Store Manager, Annie Wolfer, said it’s an easy way to clean out your closet, fill it up again, and help the community.

“It’s a great way for us to be able to partner with Goodwill and help out the community,” Wolfer said. “Every item is so important that’s donated because the funds raised at the doors helps to train people that need training to find jobs, and it helps with the employment here in our community, so again, every item is so important.”

Goodwill Industries provides job training to thousands of people each year. All money raised through this campaign goes straight to providing even more of that training.

Elaine Molfenter, who is a manager at the Goodwill on Maple Avenue said, “it helps the community as far as we’re able to provide jobs for people that have barriers to employment, maybe get some training and then they can get some training and maybe move on to bigger and better things.”

It’s not just something that happens locally, as money raised in last year’s campaign provided 693,000 hours of job training across the nation.
