Buckeye Dam Briefing

COLUMBUS, OHIO (WHIZ) – State and local emergency response officials were among roughly 50 people who gathered in Columbus Monday to discuss emergency planning in case of a breach in the Buckeye Lake Dam. A report by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said a dam failure could endanger the lives of 3,000 people who live and work nearby.

Center for Seniors Still Looking for Temporary Location

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – Due to leaks in the roof, for the past two weeks the Muskingum County Center for Seniors has had to keep its doors closed. The center has been dealing with a leaking roof for years, in the meantime the county is working to find a temporary location for the center so daily activities can resume.

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz stresses the importance of planning ahead on this Irish holiday to avoid a dangerous situation. In an effort to keep people safe on the roadways, Lutz says there will be extra patrols on the roads during peak times today.

Patricia Thomas Pleases Guilty to Theft

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – Muskingum County Prosecutor, Mike Haddox, says 46-year-old Patricia Thomas pleaded guilty to theft from elderly victims at an area nursing home. This case was part of a long investigation by the Ohio Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Division.

Books for Hotels

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – A partnership between the Muskingum County Library System and the Visitors Bureau make it possible for hotel guests to exchange gently used books in hotels across Muskingum County. A bag of 12 books was delivered to four hotels around the county last week.
