Kick-off to Operation Feed

Last year the Muskingum County Hunger Network served nearly 940,000 meals.

The network, which consists of 15 food pantries and four hot meal programs is kicking off its 35th annual Operation Feed event. It’s an event to promote the giving spirit of Muskingum County. Executive Director of Christ’s Table, Keely Warden, said the program allows the Hunger Network to provide meals to thousands of people.

“It’s very important. Last year between the 15 food pantries and the 4 hot meal programs, almost a million meals were provided to the community people and the Muskingum County area, and we want to remind people that there’s a food pantry or a hot meal program everywhere in Muskingum County,” Warden said.

Warden said for the kick-off, a spaghetti dinner was served until 6:30 Firday night at Central Presbyterian Church on 6th street in Zanesville. After the meal, people can enjoy a show and get more information about how to help with Operation Feed.

“We encourage people to get involved,” Warden said. “If you want to get started with us tonight, we’re doing our kick-of down here at Central Presbyterian. Then at 7 o’clock we’re going to have a really wonderful show upstairs in the sanctuary talking a little bit about who we serve and why it is important to have an operation feed campaign annually.”

If you are in need of a little extra food for your family. Warden said you can call 211 and you will be directed to the closest food pantry in the Muskingum County Hunger Network.
