Area Residents To Be Honored Today

A Perry and Licking County veteran are among those being honored at a ceremony Friday in Columbus. 

It’s part of the Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor Inductions for going above and beyond the call of duty and performing heroically in combat situations. 

Perry County’s Sgt. First Class Ty Henery will be honored with the Bronze Star Medal with "V" device. Henery’s nomination said he’s being honored for "exceptionally valorous achievement as the Senior Medical Sergeant, Hungarian and United States Operational Mentor and Liaison Team 1.3 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Sergeant First Class Henery’s personal courage, selfless actions under intense enemy fire, and commitment to mission accomplishment are a testament to his bravery under fire. Sergeant First Class Henery’s actions reflect distinct credit upon himself, Operational Mentor and Liaison Team 1.3, and The United States Army."

Specialist Robert Neumann of Licking County is also being honored as an ARCOM with "V" device. His nomination said he’s being honored "For exceptionally valorous actions as a Combat Medic for Multi-National Combat Support Operational Mentoring Liaison Team in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. SPC Neumann’s personal courage, selfless actions under intense enemy fire and commitment to mission accomplishment are a testament to his bravery. His actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of military heroism and reflect great credit upon himself, the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command and the United States Army."

The nonprofit hall of fame was established in 2000 to honor Ohio Veterans who received medals for valor while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The inductees were born in Ohio, entered military service from Ohio or currently reside in the state. 

Friday’s ceremony will take place in the Atrium at the Ohio State House in Columbus. The ceremony is open to the public and begins at 11:30a.m.
