Getting a strike for Big Brother Big Sisters
The two month long Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser started its celebration phase Saturday morning. Fifty-six teams gathered at Sunrise Strikes to celebrate a long fundraising campaign.
All money raised during Bowl for Kids’ Sake goes to support Big Brother Big Sisters of Muskingum, Morgan and Guernsey Counties. Executive Director, Molly Crooks said teams have far surpassed expectations. One team even raised over $1,500.
“We could not ask for a better roll out of this Bowl for Kids’ Sake event,” Crooks said. “The teams are blowing us away with their success in fundraising. The goal of each team was to raise $500. We have so many teams that are going above and beyond that, and I just couldn’t be more excited.”
At the end of bowling Saturday, teams have raised over $32,000. Which is nearly half of the goal amount of $80,000 that Big Brothers Big Sisters set for this year’s event.
“The children that are involved in this program need those positive adult role models, we want them to achieve in school, to avoid risky behaviors, to be successful and to do that we need the resources, both volunteers and money to help us with that,” Crooks said.
The bowling celebration continues next week on April 29 and 30.
