Homeless Hands of Zanesville Offers Shelter Amid Bitter Winter Cold

ZANESVILLE, OH – Homeless Hands of Zanesville is helping the community combat the bitter winter cold we are facing.

They have taken monetary donations to help provide families with shelter as well as collected things like food and clothing.

Tammy Clark, the Executive Director of Homeless Hands, said they have also opened up their Community Center on Greenwood Ave as a warming shelter for not just people, but pets too.

“The community’s really great and I think they brought me 6 kennels and I have them down at the Stepping Stone because some of the homeless got to Trulight’s warming shelter, will drop their dogs off to the kennels inside the house and then they go on down to the shelter,” Clark said. “And then I needed kennels for up here, so April Gibson hooked me up with kennels, straw, and some cat food and dog food too, it’s helpful.”

Clark said it can be difficult at times to care for the almost 300 homeless people in our community but partnerships with other local organizations make those hard times worth it.

She also said the kennels at the community center are available to anyone who may need it.

“The kennels are not just for the homeless pets, these are for people who can’t bring their pets inside, because I know some people live in houses where they can’t have their pets inside or won’t bring them inside,” Clark said. “If they want to bring them here and drop them off, I’m fine with that too.”

The Homeless Hands Community Center has a public shower and restroom as well as food if you are in need. The Community Center is located at 1351 Greenwood Ave.
