Property Taxes are Due
It’s that time of year again, as real estate taxes are due.
That includes all Muskingum County real estate taxes and mobile home taxes. County Treasurer, Chris Hamill talked to us about the proper steps to pay them.
“The real estate taxes for the second half are going to be due June 26, and to avoid any penalties, you need to pay those by that date,” Hamill said. “You can come in to our office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You have also the option to mail your bill to us, or you can pay at any Muskingum County Community Bank. If you’re mailing your real estate taxes to us they must be post-marked by June 26.”
Hamill said they also offer a drop box at the treasurer’s office for those who do not wish to stand in line. All mobile home taxes are due by July 2, and those can be paid by mail or in the office. If you don’t get your taxes in on time, Hamill said you will face a penalty.
“There is a 5 percent penalty for the first day to the ninth day, and after the ninth day there is a 10 percent penalty,” Hamill said.
If you have any questions, you can contact the treasurer’s office at 740-455-7118.
