Taste of Color continues legacy of diversity and togetherness in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Zanesville Civic League marked a major milestone with the 30th Annual Taste of Color event which celebrates diversity, community and cultural heritage through food and entertainment.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of dishes, performances and an award ceremony honoring student winners of the Muskingum County Library System’s Art and Writing contest.
“It turned out a lot better than we expected, we were kind of anticipating a good crowd, but not a huge crowd, you know because there’s a lot of sickness going around, people are still kind of on edge about coming out because of you know Covid and all of these different types of illnesses that’s going around, but as it turns out people really love this event, and I think our community really rallied behind the event and the fact that it’s the 30th annual, it’s a great milestone to celebrate,” said Adonis Brooks, Zanesville Civic League Board Member.
In addition to the festivities, attendees could take home free books, capture memories at the Forever Young Photo Booth and connect with community members in a welcoming environment. The event highlighted the Civic League’s long-standing mission to foster unity and support youth programs in the community.
“My hope for the future is that my kids and that anybody else’s kids and grandkids can keep this legacy going on with this Taste of Color, a Taste of Color is celebrated in February which co-aligns with Black History Month, but it’s not about just celebrating black people, it’s about celebrating diversity, black, white, green, yellow, it doesn’t matter, we’re all human beings and we all need to keep that mentality,” said Brooks.
