Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association Holds Annual Report Meeting

COSHOCTON, OH –Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments association or OMEGA held their annual report meeting Tuesday.

OMEGA is a local development district council of governments serving a 10-county, 12-city region. They work in tandem with state and federal funding agencies to connect communities to essential resources for state and federal grant funding, infrastructure projects, and more.

“This is our annual membership meeting, which is one of our two largest meetings of the year. It includes a full OMEGA membership,” said Kennedy Webb public information officer for OMEGA. “We are governed by a board of public servants and individuals such as commissioners, port authority directors, mayors, and council people from across our service area, and they vote on legislation matters for us to act upon and pursue grant funding and other items such as that. So this is just our big annual meeting where we get together and meet to pass our legislation and review our report for the year.”

The meeting covered a wide variety of topics, including Area Development outcomes, key awards, social media analytics and more to revitalize areas with a focus on downtowns. The guest speaker from Heritage Ohio shared valuable insights and her love for local downtown communities.

“The great part about being a statewide non-profit is that we can give services,” said Frances Jo Hamilton, Director of Revitalization at Heritage Ohio. “We can do a lot of things, and there’s a wide breadth of opportunity to share knowledge and materials whenever we can, and we hope, of course, that those organizations that are developed locally will become part of Heritage Ohio and kind of use the key fob to the gym to get in better shape.”

Both OMEGA and Heritage Ohio are dedicated to revitalizing surrounding neighborhoods and nurturing downtown areas.
