NEW CONCORD, Ohio – New Concord has paired with RFG and Associates to gather census information so that the village can apply for grants.

This Saturday and Sunday surveyors will be going door-to-door to ask residents how many people live in their home and the total household income. Village administrator Charlotte Colley said the village will then use that information when applying for grants.

“They’ll take all the information they get from the residents and go back and tabulate it all and basically come up with a number based on federal guidelines where we fit into the scheme of things. To see if we are at the higher end of the income range or are we at the lower end,” said Colley.

The survey is not mandatory and anyone can turn it down. Colley said the state needs the income information to determine how much grant money the village can receive. Colley said they are aiming for $500,000.

“It’s a DSA grant for water infrastructure. Currently we are looking to replace our existing ground water storage tank, which is over 100 years old and has outlasted its useful life. We desperately need to replace it,” said Colley.

Students at Muskingum University will be included in this survey.
