Sarah “Sally” Ebersbach

Sarah Jane “Sally” (Cooper) Ebersbach, age 82, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Genesis Morrison Hospice House. Born on December 31, 1942, in Zanesville, Ohio, Sarah lived a life rich in love, dedication, and achievement.
Sarah is survived by her devoted children: Maggie (Bob) Beardsley of Chandlersville, OH; Mark (Denise) Ebersbach of Edmond, OK; Joe Ebersbach of Zanesville; and Matt (Kelly) Ebersbach of Millersport, OH. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Emily Bash, David (Shelbie) Bash, Leanne Bash, Abby Bash, Chase (Carley Church) Beardsley, Max (Nicole) Ebersbach, Jack Ebersbach, Cooper (Sofialyn Durusan) Ebersbach, and Carson Ebersbach; as well as great-grandchildren: Libby Bettinger, Maizie Roberts, Josie Bash, Raelynn Bash, Ryder Bash, Haylen Bash, and Malainie Russi. Sarah was also deeply fond of her beloved cat, Charlie.
Sarah is further survived by her siblings, Rosemary Minear of New Jersey, Tom (Sue) Cooper of South Carolina, and Mike (Kathy) Cooper of North Carolina, along with numerous treasured nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Growing up on Greenwood Avenue as the sixth of seven children born to Herbert and Rose (Mattey) Cooper, Sarah embraced both the joys and challenges of family life. She attended St. Nicholas Elementary School before graduating from Bishop Rosecrans High School in 1961, where she excelled as a varsity cheerleader, National Honor Society member, and participant in Junior Achievement and Mock United Nations. Her hard work and dedication earned her a scholarship to Johns Hopkins University.
Professionally, Sarah devoted over 30 years of her life as a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist, serving her community at Genesis through Good Samaritan and Bethesda Hospitals. She also shared her expertise as a Clinical Coordinator and Director of the Respiratory Therapy Program at Good Samaritan Hospital. Sarah spent 10 years at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, where she formed lasting friendships and discovered her passion for waterfront living.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her former husband, Larry Ebersbach; her siblings Carol (Bill) Smith, Patty (Bernard) Barnes, and Jerry (Wanda) Cooper; and her brother-in-law Edward Minear.
Family and friends are invited to honor Sarah’s life on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hillis Combs and Nestor Funeral Home in Zanesville, OH, where a Parish Vigil will take place at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Brian Beal. Sarah will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
