Local Churches Celebrate Black History Month

Each Sunday in February St. Paul AME church hosts a weekly presentation on black history.

This week the Wings of Hope Tabernacle presented ‘The Black Experience from an Historical Perspective’ along with the presentation were songs from the Men of Promise choir and the Wings of Hope Tabernacle choir. Rev. James Workman Jr. Said giving this history perspective on the black experience will help to keep alive the history so future generations will not repeat the mistakes from the past.

"If you let history get away and if you don’t reinforce every year the black experience and black history and what black people had to go through in this country then there is a chance that people will forget. And as we die off there will no one to remind the younger generations of the price that had to be paid for freedom," said Rev. James E. Workman Jr., Assistant Pastor, Wings of Hope Tabernacle church.

The celebration will continue next Sunday, February 21st with a presentation from the Hands of Faith church at 3 p-m.
