Eastside’s Lace Up for Kids Returns this July
ZANESVILLE, OH – The Eastside Community Ministry is stepping into its 37th year of helping local kids, one pair of shoes at a time.
The annual Lace Up for Kids campaign kicks off in July. Shoes and clothes distribution will be held by appointment on Tuesday, August 5th at the Colony Square Mall. Families can apply for the program in person from July 7th through July 10th.
“The parents or guardians come to Eastside and register their kids for the program. We’ll be at Eastside. We are usually outside under the shelter house to do that because there’s not enough room inside, unless the weather is bad.” Eastside Community Ministry Volunteer, Sally Goins said.
Donations of new sneakers and clothing in all Pre-K through 12 grade sizes are welcome and monetary donations are greatly appreciated. You can drop off items at Eastside’s office Monday through Thursday from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.
“We always give socks away. We usually give a couple pairs of socks to each kid, so that ends up being several thousand pairs of socks. Every kid gets an outfit, a pair of pants, a top, and underwear to go with it. We need to know the sizes, then they’ll be chosen to match the size of the child. We can use that kind of donation, but money goes a long way because we have relationships with shoe stores where we can usually get them at a better price.” Goins said.
