The Light the Night Walk Award Ceremony

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Central Ohio chapter celebrates the people behind the cause tonight.

Each year, hundreds of people walk to help fund the research of blood cancer in the Light the Night Walk at the Ohio University Zanesville campus and today folks are being recognized for all of their hard work.

"Everyone wants to feel like they are included and I think this organization does a wonderful job in making everybody feel like every dollar counts and every time that you ask somebody for that dollar it really is important and that they make you understand where that money goes and how its distributed not just in the country but, in central Ohio and in Muskingum county," said
Amanda Bradshaw, Zanesville Committee Chair, Light the Night Walk.

Bradshaw said there were nearly 500 people in last year’s walk, split up into 30 different teams and they were able to raise 57,000 dollars.

"In Central Ohio we did this year one and a half million dollars worth of co-pay assistance. In Muskingum County alone $25,000 went to co-pay assistance for patients that live here in Muskingum county who needed the assistance," said Bradshaw.
