Operation Street Smart At OUZ
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office visited Ohio University Zanesville to make our streets a little smarter.
Muskingum Behavioral Health brought ‘Operation Street Smart’ to Zanesville. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office drew a big crowd. More than 150 people attended the workshop.
“The program is based upon educating parents, educating community members about drugs, about all the hidden compartments, all the drug trends, and the terminology,” said Coporal Brian Toth. “We as parents a lot of times the terminology goes right over our heads. But if we understand what they are talking about we can get in front of that problem before that problem really gets big.”
The four hour program aimed to educate community members about drug use in the local area and what signs to look for.
“The signs the signals that we all miss everyday this program is what’s going to help them learn those,” said Toth. “The hidden compartments, where people are hiding all the drugs. We as parents don’t even know where to look at times. We can’t lock up this problem. We’ve been locking people up for years. Some people need to go to jail but we need rehab. We need education. We need to get in front of that problem before that problem is just so big.”
If you missed Tuesday’s event don’t fret, there will be another on held on April 5 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. To RSVP contact Muskingum Behavioral Health.
