Mckenzie Pitcock Named 2025 Dreier Foundation Scholarship Recipient
Muskingum County, Ohio —This year’s Fred F. and Herman M. Dreier Foundation Scholarship winner is McKenzie Pitcock.
Pitcock is the 21st recipient of the $40,000 Dreier Scholarship. She’s studying animal science and pre-veterinary medicine at the University of Findlay and says she’s grateful for the opportunity to continue furthering her career.
“To win a scholarship like this is huge and it’s great to know there’s people that want to help me further my education, that there’s people that believe in me. I’m very thankful for the Dreier family. I wouldn’t be able to do this without them. This scholarship is helping a lot with paying for my school and my finances. It shows that people believe in me and have confidence in me too, they want to see me reach my goals,” Pitcock said.
Pitcock’s family gathered to watch as she accepted her scholarship award. Each year, it’s tradition for the recipient and the scholarship’s supporters to gather at Red Lobster for a celebratory lunch.
“What I’ve always sort of stressed, and I think Fred and Herman would stress this too, this is a family giving to another family. These were two men who never got married, who really had a heart for the kids of Muskingum County,” Kurt Dreier, scholarship family representative, said.
The scholarship was created by Fred Dreier in memory of his brother Herman. The scholarship is awarded to students pursuing collegiate studies in engineering, medical or veterinary science, or agriculture.
